New Year update.

The New Year is fast approaching. The LGBTQ community has made many advances this past year but we still have far to go. We have many battles yet to fight and they won't be easy. As President Obama is preparing to enter his third year as president, he has mentioned that he may change his position on legalizing gay marriage. This is a huge step for him and the fight for LGBTQ equality: when he was campaigning he said it was not his place to tackle such issues. 2011 also happens to be the year before an election year, this means many senators, congress men and women, as well as our President and his cabinet will being doing their upmost to appeal to voters for reelection. Many will want to gain the support of their parties over voters also. This means that we must pressure our elected officials to fight for equality for all Americans.
